ON THE PALM OF YOUR HAND you write my name, O God.
Through the pages of creation, my life unfolds.
In the chambers of your heart, I have a home, O God,
where every cry is heard, every tear seen,
every thanks
whispered in the dark or sung to the morning
is known to you.
And still, I am slow to thank, to ask, to trust.
O God, who is great and good,

GOD IS MUCH MORE CREATIVE than our comfort level tends to allow–much more in tune with the tempo of our lives and the various places we find ourselves. In fact, those are the points where God seeks us–through most everything that happens, in every incongruent and often confusing aspect of our personal experience.

Saturday’s Reflection

WHY BE ATTENTIVE TO GOD? Because it will give you a spiritual high? because you will have a wonderful experience? to get something for yourself? No. Because you are loved. Give yourself in gratitude for that love. The love God gives to you calls for your love in response. You are “called” to overflowing gratitude for all God has given you. You have been given life and love so that you can serve. You receive God’s love to extend that love to others. As you receive the compassion of God, you are called to be compassionate.

Registration date less than 1 month away!

College Conference 2011 — Sat, 04 Sep 2010 00:15:29 +0000

Hey everyone!

Hope the first of the school year is going well or about to start well for everyone. As a previous post mentioned, the registration date for the college conference is October 1st! That is less than 1 month away, CRAZY! More details should be posted later about the process but please save the date. I know everyone is hard at work to make this conference fantastic and we can't wait to share everything with y'all. Currently I am working with discussion group leaders and let me tell you, we've got a great group of people so far! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me or anyone else on the blog.

Christ Hears Our Prayers

Friday’s Reflection

EVERY MORNING, I give thanks for all God has given me–for my bed, my breakfast, my cup of tea from my leaf-shaped teapot. But as I pray, I know that beyond my home, beyond my country where freedom and peace are taken for granted, beyond all the blessings of my life lie poverty, slavery, and corruption.

So every day, I close my eyes and pray, not only out of gratitude but also from a burden that’s too big for me. I pray that God’s righteousness will come like a flood, that the hopeless will know hope. … I pray, knowing that I have not begun to touch the world’s need, that I am privileged and sheltered from suffering. I also know that Christ was neither privileged nor immune from suffering but died bearing the world’s burden.

When I finish my prayers and enter the business of the day, I do so trusting that his arms are spread wide over us, that he still carries the burden, and that he hears our prayers.

God Knows Us
